Publicity and Education through Displays

The Chapter has enjoyed some publicity through the provision of displays at various malls in Waterloo region on Heritage Day, held each February.

1996, Victoria Park pavilion in Kitchener when the park celebrated its centennial. 1996, a display was shown at the International Ploughing Match near Ayr, Ontario. 1967. German Heritage centennial, Kitchener Germanica ’89 Heritage Show – sponsored by German Canadian Congress

On May 1, 2000 a Shantz Coach Lines bus took members on a tour of significant sites pertaining to the arrival of the Bechtels, Betzners, Sherks and Beans in Waterloo County in 1800. This was allowed by the annual meeting and heritage dinner when Mark Reusser presented an address on the journey of Samuel Betzner from the kingdom of Wurtenberg, Germany to the banks of the Grand River in Upper Canada.
